Understanding Discount Rules

Rule Priority

  • Discounts apply in this order:
  1. Selected Products: Specific product discounts
  1. Tags: Product tag-based discounts
  1. All Products: Store-wide discounts

Setting Application Rules

All Products Rule

  • Applies to every product in your store
  • Simplest option
  • Use for store-wide sales

Tags Rule

  • Applies to products with matching tags
  • Select tags when creating discount
  • Products must have at least one matching tag

Selected Products Rule

  • Applies only to chosen products
  • Select specific products
  • Most targeted option

Usage Rules

Unlimited Usage

  • Default: No limit
  • Can be used unlimited times
  • By any customer

Limited Usage

  • Set total usage limit
  • Example: 100 uses total
  • Stops working after limit reached

One-Time Per Customer

  • Each customer can use once
  • Prevents multiple uses
  • Good for first-time customer offers

Date Rules

No Date Restrictions

  • Active immediately
  • No expiration
  • Stays active until disabled

Date Range

  • Set start and end dates
  • Active only during range
  • Automatically expires after end date

Status Rules

Active Status

  • Discount is live
  • Customers can use it
  • Applies at checkout

Disabled Status

  • Discount is inactive
  • Customers cannot use it
  • Can be reactivated later

Combining Rules

  • You can combine:
  • Date range + usage limit
  • Tags + one-time usage
  • Selected products + date range
  • Example: "20% off winter products, valid for 30 days, 50 uses total"

  • Set clear expiration dates
  • Use usage limits for limited offers
  • Test rules before launching
  • Monitor rule effectiveness
